Call to preserve Hindu culture

Wednesday, September 26, 2007

SHIMOGA: Director of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Bangalore, Mathoor Krishnamurthy said here on Wednesday that Indian culture and heritage could be protected by making the younger generation appreciate the significance of the Hindu religion and its "samskara".

He was speaking as the chief guest at a function organised to mark "Seemolanghana" and "Vijayotsava" at the end of "Chaturmasya" conducted by Sachidananda Jnaneshar Bharathi Swami of the Karki Math.

He said that the Hindu culture should be preserved and promoted without showing any disrespect to it.

President of the Shimoga District Congress Committee R. Prasannakumar said that as all religions aimed at peace and harmony it was necessary to develop mutual love and respect for them by people of all faiths.

President of the chaturmasya committee Raghunath Raikar presided over the function.
